Get to know us!

Established in March 2016, 808 Coquitlam Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron is a youth organization based in Coquitlam, BC, and is open to youth aged 12 to 18.

Our program focuses on developing good citizenship, leadership, and physical fitness of our Cadets, with activities and training such as community service, leadership and instructional opportunities, and sports and recreational activities to provide our Cadets with experiences that would not be possible anywhere else. Additionally, the Air Cadet program places an emphasis on aviation, aerospace training, and the activities of the Royal Canadian Air Force, with the potential for some Cadets to achieve their Glider and Power Pilot licenses through the program, free of charge.

At 808 Coquitlam Squadron, we have offered a multitude of different extra-curricular teams and activities, including a Military Band, Precision Drill Team, First Aid Team, Toastmaster Effective Speaking, Ground School, Biathlon Team, and more.

In addition to personal development, you may receive secondary school credits that can be used to fulfill your secondary school graduation requirements. A unique opportunity at 808 Coquitlam is that we offer annual scholarships to our deserving cadets entering their first year of  post-secondary education.

Here is a slideshow overview of our programme that was presented at our last Parent Information Session. If you are interested in joining the Air Cadet Programme in Coquitlam, visit our Joining page for details.

Squadron Sponsoring Committee

The Royal Canadian Air Cadet organization is a partnership between the Department of National Defence and the Air Cadet League of Canada. The Air Cadet League consists of a National and a Provincial level. The British Columbia Provincial Committee (BCPC) works with all local Squadron Sponsoring Committees to help deliver the cadet programme.

The Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC) consists of parent volunteers. All parents and guardians may become members of the SSC after completing a Volunteer Registration package, undergoing criminal screening, and an interview with a League Representative.

The Executive Members are elected during the Squadron’s Annual General Meeting held each year in the fall. There are additional Parent Information Meetings that may be scheduled at various times during the training year at the discretion of the SSC. All parents are invited to attend these meetings.
